Furniture casters have been the bane of restorers for a long time. It is not uncomon for wood casters to freeze or lock in place causing the wheel to become flat on once side from years of moving the furniture with a bad caster. On pices of furniture that have spindle or thin legs, trying to move the furniture with a flat caster would often cause it to become stuck which would in turn break the leg of the furniture. Porcelain casters were not much better as they would have a propensity to break under the weight of heavier furniture. Casters that use a socket would also cause problems when the socket would become worn and allow the caster stem to fall out of the socket when the furniture was lifter. We carry a large selection of antique furniture casters to correct all of these problems.
